We are committed to creating a safe, friendly, and professional environment for all that attend the Dust and Gas conference. We highly value diversity and inclusion and commit to making the environment free from harassment, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, age, physical appearance, body size, social position, family origin, political views, race, ethnicity, nationality, language or religion (or lack thereof). We firmly believe that diversity facilitates creativity and a scientific environment that is both more welcoming and more productive.
Accordingly, all attendees are expected to show mutual respect and courtesy to other attendees throughout the conference. We will not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form.
Please follow these guidelines:
Behave professionally and respect others. Harassment and sexist, racist, or exclusionary comments or jokes are not appropriate. Harassment includes sustained disruption of talks or other events, verbal attacks, bullying, sexual attention or innuendo, intimidation, stalking, and photography/screenshots or recording of an individual without their consent. None of these behaviors are acceptable in any form including verbal and text communications.
All communication should be appropriate for a professional audience including people of many different backgrounds. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any parts of this conference.
Be kind and respectful to others. Do not insult or put down other attendees, and critique ideas rather than people. In discussions, please be aware of potential power dynamics based on seniority, experience, culture, ease of communication, among others.
If participants wish to share photos/screenshots of a presenter on social media, we strongly recommend that they obtain the presenter’s permission before doing so. Participants are free to share the ideas of talks, but please refrain from sharing copies of slides/contents except when they have already been officially shared by the conference organizer or permission has been given by the presenter.
If a participant witnesses events of any inappropriate behavior, such as harassment, bullying, or aggression, we recommend that they approach the affected person to show support and check how they are. The witness may also wish to suggest that the person report the inappropriate behavior. However, it is up to the affected person alone whether or not they wish to report it.
If asked to stop inappropriate behavior participants are expected to comply immediately. In serious cases, they may be expelled from the event at the sole discretion of the conference organizers.
